Welcome to the Vienna Celtic Women's Rugby Team website. Rugby is a great game that anyone can play. At Vienna Celtic we try to make training and matches lots of fun, as well as good exercise. We put a lot of emphasis on team work and we try to have a great time off the field as well as on it. You don't have to be a sports star to play, it takes all shapes and sizes and fitness levels.

So if you have played before or you enjoying watching rugby, or even if you have never seen a game in your life, you are welcome to come along and try it out at Vienna Celtic. If you're interested, please contact us or come along to training.

In 1977, a handful of Brits sparked interest in rugby in some Austrians. Their enthusiasm led to a well-played, enjoyable game. It was so much fun, more games were organized. On January 19, 1987, John Skinner -- a Scott -- together with Johann Schweiger and Bernhard Eigenberge -- some young Austrians --founded Autria's first rugby club, the Vienna Celtic Rugby Football Club.

Today, the club is a grand mix of many nations (geographically from Norway to New Zealand , alphabetical from Australia to Zimbabwe) with excellent contact to many other teams internationally. We not only play in Austria's First League but in many neighboring countries as well, for example: Münchner Oktberfest 7’s, Capitals Cup, Bishops Cup St. Gallen, Warszaw 10’s, etc.
